About

Dr Joseph Drentin is a consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist.  He studied medicine at Melbourne University and graduated in 1985.

After graduating he spent some time working in emergency medicine and general practice before commencing formal training in obstetrics and gynaecology.  His training involved positions at the Monash Medical Centre, Mercy Hospital Melbourne, Gold Coast Hospital and Royal Women’s Hospital Brisbane.

He is a fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. 

Dr Drentin’s practice has an emphasis in obstetrics. He has particular interests in pre-pregnancy assessment, family planning, complicated and high risk pregnancies and antenatal care.   He delivers and has admitting rights at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Fitzroy, Epworth Freemasons Maternity and Frances Perry House for private obstetric patients. 

He also specialises in the area of general gynaecology, laparoscopic surgery for routine gynaecological pathology (eg. benign ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy, mild to moderate endometriosis). 

Dr Drentin’s patients love his down to earth nature.  He always allows ample time for your scheduled appointments to discuss any questions you may have and advice you may require for your medical treatment. Dr Drentin will offer you a broad range of clinical expertise.   

Dr Drentin is married with three children who keep him busy when he is not at work.  He is a keen Bulldogs supporter, enjoys sports, particularly snow skiing, and has an interest in general wellbeing.  He likes to keep fit and healthy, although does enjoy sharing a chocolate or two with his staff!
